Mangroves play an important role in the ecology of the coastal ecosystems they inhabit, the surrounding fauna benefits from them in an extraordinary way and humans living near mangroves are also protected from natural disasters.
Our tour today will take us to the heart of the mangrove forest on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Juan Venado Island is a perfect Natural Reserve for marine life. Crabs, shrimp, crocodiles, turtles, turtles, monkeys, raccoons, opossums, foxes, iguanas, insects, birds of all kinds and more are part of our adventure today.
Departure from Leon is early, at 8:00 am. We will drive 30 minutes to Las Peñitas and from there, we will take a boat and go into the river for two hours. After we finish the tour, we will stop at a local restaurant in Las Pelitas for lunch and then back to León.
