Whenever you do a kayaking tour, you have a better chance of getting much closer to the local wildlife, plus, it’s a way to enjoy nature without altering it in a big way.

Our kayaking tour in the mangroves of Las Peñitas is designed just for those people who love nature and respect it. It is a 4 to 5 hour tour where we will see birds up close and where we will discover the life of the mangroves in general. The mangroves serve as refuges for thousands of species and prevent the surrounding communities from being flooded when we have high tides.

The Juan Venado Island Nature Reserve is without a doubt an unparalleled tropical paradise. This is a protected area that occupies a sandy barrier 18 km long and between 30 and 250 meters wide, oriented from northwest to southeast parallel to the Pacific coast.

The dense mangrove forest that covers Juan Venado Island protects the reserve and protects the different animal species that live in this beautiful natural paradise. The red mangrove (rhizophora mangle) is the most prominent mangrove species along the island, whose concentration serves as an ecological filter and helps conserve the species that populate the area such as iguanas, crocodiles, birds, spiders, crabs, among others.

Departure from Leon is early, at 1:00 pm. We will drive 30 minutes to Las Peñitas and from there, we will take our kayak tour for almost 4 hours and go into the river for two hours to enjoy nature. After we finish the tour, we will stop at a local restaurant in Las Pelitas for lunch while the sunset dazzles our eyes. After that we will return to León around 7 pm.
